Digital waste tracking at a transfer station
Skips, tippers, vans, walk-ins. Mixed loads with three or four different streams on them. Since 1 October 2026, permitted receiving sites in England and Wales have had to report every load they take in within two working days, starting the day after it comes in. Weekends and bank holidays don't count, so Friday's loads are normally due by the end of Tuesday.
How it works
How a load in works
The load comes in. Pick the customer, waste code and weight.
The transfer note's done and signed there and then.
The receipt goes to DEFRA.
Built for transfer stations
Waste transfer station software, built for mixed loads
Multi-item loads. Split a mixed load into separate items, each with its own waste codes, all on one record.
Your quarterly V17 return comes from the loads you've already logged, so you're not adding it all up again at the end of the quarter.
It runs online, so the gate needs signal or wifi. We check that with you before you go live.

Questions
Transfer station questions
Do waste transfer stations have to use digital waste tracking?
If your transfer station is a permitted site in England or Wales that receives waste, yes, since 1 October 2026. GOV.UK's "check if you need to report the waste you receive" page lists the exceptions.
How long have I got to report a load?
Two working days, starting the day after the waste comes in. Weekends and bank holidays don't count, so Friday's loads are normally due by the end of Tuesday.
Do I still need waste transfer notes?
Yes. Paper transfer notes aren't banned and they're not going away. Wastrio does the note and the report from the same entry.
